朝鮮労働党機関紙、労働新聞は１３日、 金正恩第１書記の叔父、張成沢元国防副委員長の処刑を「革命の極めて厳しい鉄ついだ」と称賛する長文の論説を１面に掲載した。朝鮮中央テレビでは午後３時（日本時間同）すぎから、男性アナウンサーが張氏処刑の公式報道文を２０分近くにわたり朗読した。首都平壌は平静を保ち、街中に目立った変化は見られない。
North Korea announces on Dec. 13, 2013, that it executed Jang Song Thaek, supreme leader Kim Jong Un’s uncle, the previous day. The official Korean Central News Agency described Jang, who had been considered the country’s second-most powerful figure, as a “traitor to the nation for all ages who perpetrated anti-party, counter-revolutionary factional acts in a bid to overthrow the leadership of our party and state and the socialist system.”
