In 2024–25, a documentary on Amazon Prime sparked new debates by claiming that Bill Gates funded experiments worth $12 million to “dim the sun” using geoengineering techniques. Supporters say it’s an attempt to slow down climate change by reflecting sunlight back into space.
But scientists say the white lines we see behind airplanes are actually contrails — condensation trails formed when hot aircraft exhaust mixes with cold air at high altitudes, creating ice crystals that look like clouds.
