In this special episode of This House, we trace the rise of the Rothschilds through their mansions, from the palaces of Vienna and the vast glass-roofed Château de Ferrières outside Paris to the rose-pink Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on the French Riviera, the fairytale De Haar Castle in the Netherlands, and the green corner of Buckinghamshire so crowded with family houses that it earned the nickname Rothschildshire, home to Mentmore Towers, Halton House, Tring Park, and Waddesdon Manor.
