A critical review of Kim Stanley Robinson’s THE MINISTRY FOR THE FUTURE. KSR took on a massive undertaking with this book, and while I value the effort, he gets a lot of climate science wrong, pins his hopes on unworkable, dangerous geoengineering projects, and understanding of how societal transformation is actually accomplished is, frankly, bass-ackwards. I assign him some books to read to fill in the gaps in his knowledge of indigenous technologies, and I go on a final tangent about why Barack Obama’s endorsement of this book is particularly infuriating.
