During the Cold War, the CIA launched one of its strangest secret experiments — a project later known as Acoustic Kitty. The idea was bold: surgically implant a microphone and transmitter inside a cat and use it to secretly record conversations near Soviet officials.
After years of research and millions of dollars spent, the project was finally tested in the field. But controlling a cat in real-world conditions proved nearly impossible. According to declassified documents, the first field test ended in failure, and the entire project was eventually abandoned.
